Rhinoplasty Can Make A Nose Look Better and Breathe Easier

Carlotti Rhinoplasty Nose Job and FaceliftHuman noses come in many shapes and sizes, and for both cosmetic and medical reasons, many of them are not pleasing to their owners. Rhinoplasty – surgery to alter or reshape the nose – is one of the oldest and most common cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries, and it’s often done as part of a facelift procedure.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, rhinoplasty was the sixth most common cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States in 2011. Among men, however, rhinoplasty was the number one cosmetic surgery. In total, more than 125,000 “nose jobs” were performed in the U.S. last year.

The nose is not a large body part, but because it lies in the very center of the face, its flaws and abnormalities can be very noticeable. An excess fraction of an inch of bone or cartilage can make a person’s nose appear disproportionately large or prominent, throwing off the aesthetic balance of the whole face and its other features. A person who feels that his or her nose deviates too much from the “norm” can find it deeply embarrassing. From childhood or adolescence, a large or differently shaped nose can make a person feel conspicuous and undermine his or her confidence.

The nose isn’t a mere facial decoration, however.  It’s also a functional organ for breathing and its internal structure plays a role in how a person’s voice sounds. Rhinoplasty can be medically necessary to correct severe breathing problems, as part of an operation to excise a cancerous growth, or to repair facial trauma from an accident.

Although many Scottsdale cosmetic surgeons may perform rhinoplasties, few have the expertise of Dr. Albert Carlotti and Dr. Michele-Cabret Carlotti. The Drs. Carlotti are highly trained and experienced in the highly specialized and demanding fields of maxillofacial and craniofacial surgery, and they deliver excellent, natural-looking results when performing cosmetic and corrective procedures on the head, jaws and neck. If you’ve been considering rhinoplasty or other facial cosmetic surgery, call The Carlotti Center for Cosmetic Surgery for a consultation at (480) 947-7700.
